BazarKurdistan: More than 75% of the products from Iran’s tile industry are exported to Iraq and the Kurdistan region.
According to global rankings, Iran ranked fifth in tile and ceramic exports and sixth in production worldwide last year.
Behnam Azizzadeh, The Executive Manager of the Iranian Tile and Ceramics Producers Association, stated that Iranian tile and ceramic products benefit from advanced technology, access to raw materials, inexpensive energy, and readily available manpower, which gives them a significant competitive edge.
Azizzadeh emphasized that Iran has the capacity to produce any product with varying qualities and styles for global markets.
He noted that despite Iran’s advantageous position in the tile and ceramics industry in the Middle East, there are also formidable competitors striving to capture regional markets.
Executive Manager of the Iranian Tile and Ceramics Producers Association also stated that the tile and ceramics industry is among the 15 leading industries in the country.
The production capacity of this industry has increased from 500,000 square meters in 1957—when the first production unit was established in Iran—to over 750 million square meters currently, reflecting the most significant quantitative and qualitative growth in the last 20 years.
Behnam Azizzadeh pointed out that there are currently more than 145 production units in this industry, Approximately 450,000 individuals are actively involved in this industry, both directly and indirectly.
The “Iran Ceramic Producers Syndicate” was formed in 1996 (1375 in the Iranian calendar) with the aim of supporting and defending the rights and interests of its trade and professional members, as well as gaining the support of government and national authorities for the syndicate’s goals.
